Overview

Southern Metal Processing Co. Inc. has been providing contracted cleaning services to the Polymer, Chemical and Petrochemical Industries for 35 years. We have provided our services to the Automotives market for over 10 years. Our facilities have operated 24 hours per day, seven days a week 365 days a year continuously since 1973.

We are unique in that we maintain a diversity of processes allowing us to select the most effective, economic and/or safest for our customer’s equipment. If a thermal process is most desirable or effective, we have burn off ovens or molten salt baths available to remove contaminants. If thermal processes compromise the mechanical integrity of the equipment, we have solvent based processes available to effect the required cleaning. As a subsequent or primary process, we also have aqueous based caustic, acid and detergent based capabilities to effectively rinse, clean or passivate equipment.

Given the availability of a cleaning process to efficiently and economically clean a customer’s equipment and associated components, the delivery of this service on a repeatable and reliable schedule suitable for the customers normal operations is mandatory. Just as important is the ability of the service provider to shorten this cycle at times to respond to emergency or unplanned developments in the customers operation. Our service commitment to our customers is to ‘Do whatever it takes to get the job done in the time required for the customer to maintain or regain operation!”.

SMP has functioned in this mode for over 35 years. We have come to the aid of our customers numerous times in response to shutdowns, power failures, product changes, etc. over these years. We understand the urgency of maintaining continuous operations and our staff work hand-in-hand with our customers to ensure that their needs are met.

Historical Test Data Retention
All test data collected on a given filter or component is recorded into the Southern Metal Processing Co.’s (SMPCO) database. Test reports are generated and supplied with returned products. All historical test data is maintained within the SMPCO database for future review or tracking by SMPCO or the customer.

Video and Microscopic Product Inspection
When required and necessary to inspect for cleanliness, damage or possible contamination, magnified inspections can be made. In addition, photo images can be captured for record or review by others. Specialized test stands have been designed and manufactured by SMPCO for inspection of spinnerettes and large die screens used in Nonwovens manufacture.

Emergency Response to Shutdown Situations
SMPCO understands urgent situations. We have emergency and contingencies plans and planning always at the ready to address what ever crisis can or does occur. Dedicated equipment or reserved process capabilities can be managed when needed.

Door-to-door Transportation Service
SMPCO maintains a fleet of trucks and company employed drivers to provide dedicated pick-up and delivery of equipment on a routine scheduled basis or in emergency situations.

Disassembly/Reassembly of Product (Filter Assemblies)
When required or necessary, SMPCO has the equipment, expertise and manpower to provide mechanical disassembly and/or reassembly of filter assemblies, vessels, dies, etc. Storage and inventory is managed and maintained for spare filters, seal rings, nuts, bolts, studs, etc. needed for replacement or assembly of equipment. Full services include torque of head bolts and pressure leak tests to ensure adequate sealing.

Warehousing Spare Inventory of Filter Elements and Assembly Parts
To facilitate faster turn around of filter assemblies and/or vessels, SMPCO can maintain and manage spare parts inventory of elements, seals, gaskets, studs, nuts, etc. This can shorten turn time by as much as 50 % to assist in recovery from shutdowns, operate with short on-stream life due to process upsets or routine conditions.
